The Wendigo is a fast and deadly monster found towards the end of the Halloween 2020 and Halloween 2023 Events. These enemies are an extremely powerful and dangerous threat if not dealt with effectively.
Appearance[]
The Wendigo is a tall, skinny creature with neon white eyes. It has antlers protruding from its head, as well as grassy fur around its neck and flowing down onto its back. Behind the Wendigo are bone-like spikes. The Wendigo also has four white claws on each of its hands, as well as having its ribcage exposed.
Strategy[]
- Wendigo can be considered the most dangerous enemy in the event, causing even more losses than the final boss Grim. Coordination between teammates is required, as Wendigo can and will end the game for any unprepared team during wave 14.
- It is strongly recommended to use Railgunners for a lesser extent.
- The best way to deal with this enemy is with many level 4+ Railgunners.
- Phasers can help, being able to do heavy damage to this zombie due to it's high range and high damage potential, however it is unable to effectively deal with swarms as it takes time to lock onto a new target.
- Level 5 Tubers can be helpful in clearing hordes of Wraiths and Haunted Knights, which can soak up a lot of damage for Wendigo and potentially lead to a defeat.
- Using the Commander's Call to Arms ability when encountering this enemy is be the best way to deal with it.
- Wendigo is immune to burn and freeze, though the green flames by Hallowboomer negates the burn effect.
- However, on Halloween 2023, Wendigos lost their immunities to dancing and burning, making Flamethrower and Hallowboomer a good choice for the event.
- Maxed Cryo-Gunners can briefly stun Wendigos while also stalling other enemies.
- On Halloween 2023, Level 5 DJ is extremely good against Wendigos due to its Apocalypse Rave ability. This is enhanced even further because there are no enemies immune to dancing besides Grim.
Trivia[]
- The Wendigo has the second highest amount of health in the Halloween 2020 and Halloween 2023 events, only behind Grim but if comparing excluding the end-game boss, it has the highest health in both events.
- Wendigo is based off of a monster from Native American folklores; it is usually associated with the indigenous populations of both Canada and the United States; but especially linked with colder climates and weather.
- The Wendigo has a winter counterpart, the Snow Wendigo.
- Upon spawning, the song Gmod Zombie Survival Theme will play.
- Wendigo, its winter counterpart, Snow Wendigo, and the Death Knight are the only non-final boss zombies to have a theme.
