The Lava is a enemy encountered on Wave 19 and beyond. It has 120 health with a speed of below average. Lavas can also be spawned from Mystery2s. Upon death, the Lava will turn into a petrified enemy.
Appearance[]
Old[]
The original version of the Lava had transparent red neon skin that emitted fire particles that fade into smoke, along with a black rusty body. It also had a blocky head, unlike most enemies. The skin then became opaque which made the skin completely glowing red, along with the Lava emitting a red flow on its surroundings.
Current[]
The new version of the Lava is completely revamped; it has orange neon skin that emits bright fire particles, along with a gray slate body with molten lava on some parts on its body. It now emits an orange glow, along with emitting fire sparks out on its head.
Tactics[]
- Crowd control towers like the Tuber, Mortar, Plasma Trooper, or Aviator are the main towers to use due to the Lava coming in groups. These towers at their level 4 or 5 upgrades make it easy for the player to gain cash through their hordes, funding their own or other tower upgrades.
- Single DPS methods are not as preferred, but if needed Level 5 Marksman, Level 5 Soldiers and Level 4-5 Commandos can try to hold them off.
- A Commander helps boost the firerate of towers to clear them, and an airstrike can wipe out any amount of Lavas in a second. However, it is recommended to save the airstrike for more threatening enemies such as a Hidden Boss rush or Slimes, and the infrequency of the airstrike compared to splash damage towers make it inefficient.
- A DJ gives a firerate boost, and using the Apocalypse Rave ability can allow splash towers to clear Lava with ease.
- Low-level spawner towers like Graveyard and Zed are not very effective against Lavas. Level 5 Patrols can also work as well.
- Lavas are immune to fire damage, an exception being the fire damage of Level 5 Hallowboomers.
- Cryo-Gunners can deal damage but can't freeze them. Snowballers and Sleeters can affect Lavas but are ineffective at lower levels.
- Sleeter's permafrost, however, can affect Lavas.
- Haunted/Hallow Knights spawned from Graveyard can clear hordes of Lavas in a few seconds.
Trivia[]
- The Lava was one of eight Enemies to have a crooked head, the others being Mummy, Golem, Boss2, Boss4, Zombie, Monster, and Patient Zero.
- Flamethrowers cannot target the Lava at any level, acting as if it is a camouflaged enemy.
- Although Lavas cannot be slowed by Flamethrowers, max level Hallowboomers can slow them.
- The walking animation in 12/25/20 update looks similar to the Graveyard Zombie walking animation.
