Description

The Fragger is a splash-damaging tower. It throws a frag grenade every 2.75 seconds and deal 2 damage to enemies in its splash radius (0.72 DPS). It costs 100 and placement cost of $350.

Appearance

The Fragger is a dark skinned tower with navy blue clothing and gloves, holding a green frag grenade.

Upgrades

Bigger Boom ($140)

• Increases splash radius.
• Sell price changes to $245.

Goggles ($250)

• Increases range moderately. (+2 range, 9 total)
• Allows the Fragger to target camouflaged enemies.
• Added Cosmetics: The Fragger is wearing goggles. It looks like the grenade is slightly larger.
• Sell price changes to $370.

Geared Up ($650)

• Increases damage from 2 to 4.(+2). (1.6 DPS)
• Now throws a grenade once per 2.5 seconds.
• Added Cosmetics: Like the name suggests, Fragger is geared up and dons a vest on its torso. The vest is reflective, meaning it has the color of the skybox.
• Sell price changes to $645.

Demo Man ($2,200)

• Increases damage from 4 to 12. (+8). (6 DPS)
• Moderately increases range. (+2 range, 11 total)
• Now throws a C4 once per 2 seconds.
• Added Cosmetics: The Fragger has a dark helmet and added sleeves, now equipped with a C4 that it uses.

Tactics

Usage

• The Fragger works well with the Flamethrower or Sniper as an early-game defense; it can group up common enemies together or take out zombies with higher HP, allowing the Fragger to maximize its splash damage and/or focus on smaller zombies.
• Place Fraggers in corners and at turns; their splash damage allows them to hit the same enemy multiple times, and a bend or turn can allow the Fragger to kill enemies it otherwise couldn't on a straight path.
• It is advised to place these near the start of the map where they can deal the most splash damage.
• Upgrading the Fragger to level 4 can singlehandedly negate most damage from Hiddens, making it an excellent tower to survive Wave 10 and 12. It can also help against Necromancer by killing the Summons that it spawns.
  • Placing two level 4 Fraggers to reliably kill Hiddens and reveal Mysteries easily.
• Level 5 Fraggers have more than twice the DPS as level 4 Mortar and Tuber while costing slightly less. They are effective against Lavas and Boss1s. In addition, they can do a bit of chip damage against Slimes and Boss2s.
  • It is still recommended for Tuber to become crowd control when dealing with higher waves as it has a higher area of effect and damage.
• After mid-game, Fraggers may not be as effective and it is recommended to replace it with another splash tower like Mortar or Tuber.
• Since the Fragger can splash in a large radius with good cost efficiency, it is excellent at preventing early game rushes from opponents, while still being able to deal with Boss1 rushes when maxed.
• When dealing with Slows, two Fraggers with the upgrade "Geared Up", can be a cost efficient way to deal with them.
• If used in conjunction with Cryo-Gunner the Fragger can be very effective against early-game zombies.

Counter

• Fraggers are not very effective against high health bosses early game until level 5. Sending multiple Boss1s can overwhelm your enemy if they don't have a max fragger.
• If your opponent is still using Fraggers mid-game, rushing with faster enemies such as Lightning and Hidden Boss may pressure or defeat your opponent altogether.

Trivia

• The Fragger is the first tower that has gloves at level 1 without needing an upgrade, second being the DJ.
• The Level 4 upgrade icon is from the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 Blast Shield perk.
