Borderlands is one of the very long maps with a futuristic/modern theme that was originally created and revamped by NexoKami

Appearance[]

Borderlands has the appearance of a post-reconstruction era that is being expanded upon and rebuilt with advanced technology. This can be seen with the refurbished roads, modern buildings and a massive wall near the entrance of the map.

Tactics[]

  • This is one of the only maps where there is enough space for Railgunners to kill the Void. Midnight Road may be long enough, but it would still be impossible due to insufficient cliff spaces on that map.
    • However, it is possible on Verdun.
    • If using Railgunners, place them on the hill, not the wall. This is a very common mistake newer players make, because on the hill, multiple railgunners will each shoot in a ''burst'' instead of all at once. Not only is this better for crowd control, but if multiple Railgunners shoot the same zombie, and not all shots are needed to kill the zombie, the extra Railgunners dealing the damage will still overkill and target the dead zombie because they would be unable to detect the zombie’s death before they shoot.
  • It is recommended that splash-damaging units or high damage-dealing units with long-range (like Commandos) to be placed around or the winding, "S" shape of the track so they can have broad coverage of the map.
    • Aviators have a large area near the "S" bend as well and can be a very cost efficient DPS (Damage Per Second) tower early to late game.
  • This map has many cliff spots, so one should have no trouble placing cliff-only towers.
  • Patrols, Barracks, and Zeds are ideal to use due to the track being long and tanks and soldiers being able to shoot across the path.
    • Soldiers from Barracks tend to group up in later waves due to the sharp corners and turns, making the Barracks particularly effective on this map.

Trivia[]

  • This is the longest map in the game.
  • This map was added shortly after the game was released.
  • This is the most recent map in the game to be revamped.
  • Borderlands is one of the few maps where the wall the road ends is not opposite to the wall the entrance is on.
  • This map is the map with the most cliff space due to how large the multiple sources of cliffs there are.
  • This map can occasionally make Void trip over the wall, however, this doesn't affect Void's speed.
  • Prior to the removal of Borderlands from Versus, there was a glitch that occurred, which replaced the revamped Borderlands with the old Borderlands,
  • There was a glitch where the zombies go slightly off track on this map in versus, possibly because the code of the zombies was written for the new Borderlands map while the map itself was the old version.
  • The old version was slightly easier due to more cliff space for cliff towers.
  • Near the end of the map (revamped) is a double-sided billboard, with one side telling a horror story about a "monster" that terrorized a group of people. This could possibly (not confirmed) be deeper lore to the game.
  • There is a spot on this map where the ground is slightly elevated, allowing ground towers to be placed closer to each other than the normal placement footprint would allow.
  • The Borderlands map has a real life length of about 80.7 meters, which is about~1009 average bananas.
