Grim is the final boss of the Halloween 2020 and Halloween 2023 event. He appears shortly after the start of Wave 15 with a large health pool of 700,000 HP but walks extremely slowly.
Appearance[]
Grim has the resemblance of the grim reaper. Grim is a large figure that dons a dark red cloak and hood. There are chains dangling around its neck with three skulls attached, a lantern and a clock on his torso. There are wings protruding from its back. Grim is armed with a giant scythe that it uses to attack towers. From beneath its hood, there is a menacing grin on its face.
Offensive Abilities[]
Summon[]
Grim raises his left hand up, emitting a green aura. Upon doing this, he spawns in a swarm of Giant Cursed(s). Grim will always use summon right after he spawns.
Scythe Slam[]
Grim raises his scythe, then slams it down, creating an explosive radius that stuns ground towers.
Soul Reaping[]
Grim laughs before carrying his scythe sideways and slicing any tower within range, stealing their souls and killing them. After that, the victims from his scythe are turned to stone, and are left permanently stunned. A status on their information box will read "Dead" with a symbol of a skull and crossbones.
Tactics[]
- Level 4 or 5 Railgunners are effective at killing the Wendigos, Wraiths, and Giant Curseds that will try to distract the Phaser from locking on
- Large amounts of Level 5 Phasers are strongly recommended. In addition, the Phasers are much more effective from the path, far from Grim so they can't be stunned or killed. Pairing them up with a DJ and Commander is recommended, as they'll receive a range boost to target Grim from further back and a discount allowing for cheaper upgrades.
- Remember to manage the Commander's Call to Arms quickly. Micro-managing (Selling and replacing) is required, especially if the Grim is in range of a Commander.
- In the case that Grim kills crucial towers such as Phasers and Railgunners; it is recommended to sell and replace those towers as quickly as possible.
- Before Grim spawns, place down a few phasers so they can deal extra damage after other towers clear up the other enemies.
- Cryo-Gunners are super effective against Grim's ability to stun and permanently kill towers. For $200 a piece, having one player spam level 1 Cryo-Gunners around Grim can make him waste his stun and tower killing abilities and net insane value out of the ones attacked by him. Greatly slowing down Grim's progress while also saving other more important towers meant to deal with him.
Trivia[]
- Grim's 2020 theme is a slowed down version of "Mastermind" from DOOM (2016). It is played at x0.8 speed.
- Grim's 2023 theme is 'Mark of the Doom Slayer', a fan-made soundtrack based on DOOM soundtrack.
- Grim has the highest health out of any final event boss, even surpassing Void's.
- Grim is the first zombie in Tower Battles history to be able to truly kill towers.
- Grim can target and attack cliff towers but they will not be affected by any of his attacks. It is unknown whether this is a glitch or not. (This seems to be patched as of the 2023 rerun of this event)
- Grim is the first zombie to have physics on his body. The chains, dangling skulls, lantern, and clock, move as Grim makes any movement.
- Wraith does not count, as the chains around their necks are animated rather than physics-based.
- Grim is the biggest zombie out of all, even bigger than Frosty and King Jack, as both of them are the same size.
- Before Grim's model loaded fully, you can see that his torso has a green cube, possibly being its HumanoidRootPart.
- Grim is the 5th zombie to have resemblance of a face.
- On death, it is seen putting its scythe down for balance, a portal appears, and while Grim tries flying up, he fails to escape the grasp of gravity.
- When Grim dies, it uses the same death sound with Jack, just that the sound is more slowed.
- Grim is the only event boss that appears in two different events (Halloween 2020 and Halloween 2023)
Glitches[]
- Grim has a small chance of becoming stuck on map obstacles, giving him the inability to move until death.
- If Grim kills a tower, then stuns it, the dead tower will be able to shoot again.
- If Grim uses his scythe to slam an explosive range that contains the towers that were killed, those towers will be revived and be used again. However, those towers will look the same as they did when they died.
